Scripture Inspiration
“For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.” -Hebrews 3:4
Home ownership isn’t just about the walls and the roof, it’s about creating stabiity, memories, and freedom for your future. And I believe home ownership is a great path to all of that.

6 Things Every First-Time Homebuyer Needs to Know
Here are six things you can do now to be ready to buy a house in 2026!
- Build and protect your credit. Check to make sure there are no errors.
- Pay your bills on time, every time. Set up automatic payments so you don’t forget to pay any bills.
- Keep your credit card balance under 30% of your limit.
- Save money. The trend is to spend and “treat yourself,” but your future self (and home) will thank you when your savings account grows. Create an account specifically for your home and set up automatic savings to be deposited into that account.
- Try something like RocketMoney to see where you have unused subscriptions or memberships.
- Find a Lender who Educates–not just approves. Look for someone who will take time to explain your loan options and look at your situation creatively to find your best loan option. They can also help you build and repair credit if needed.
- Find a Real Estate Agent who Advocates–not just shows you homes. Look for someone you click with, who is responsive, has availability when you want to see homes, and takes time to educate you on the home and process.\
- Prioritize your Needs over your Wants. Make two lists so you’re clear on your needs during the emotional process of buying a home. Needs are non-negotiables things that affect your daily life, such as the home’s location, number of bedrooms, safety, and commute time. Wants are things like a tile backsplash in the kitchen, granite countertops, and a walk-in closet.
- Know when you’re ready. Ask yourself these questions and if you’re ready, you should be able to check yes for most of them:
- Do I have a stable income and job security?
- Have I paid down debt?
- Do I have an emergency fund in case something goes wrong in the home?
- Are you ready to stay put for at least 3 to 5 years?
- Am I ready to handle the maintenance, taxes, and responsibilities that come with being a homeowner?
Whether it’s building credit, saving, connecting with a lender, or finding the right agent, every step you take now is going to get you to that space of (home ownership) success in 2026.
