FREE Sandy Beach Passes for Lake Mills Residents
In May 2026, the city council made a change the fees for Sandy Beach Park. They are no longer charging an entrance fee to the beach but have a daily $12 parking fee per vehicle instead. Visitors should make the payment via QR Codes posted on signs throughout the parking lot.
Lake Mills City residents can register two vehicles to be exempt from the parking fee at Sandy Beach Park at the Lake Mills Municipal Building & Community Center (200D Water Street, upper level) Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM or complete this online form. You will need your vehicle registration(s) to complete the process.
Marty’s Itty Bitty BBQ Food Truck
Marty’s Itty Bitty BBQ Food Truck will be at Sandy Beach serving mouth-watering barbecue, tacos, and more. They’ll be open Thursdays through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Follow their Facebook page for updates.

Lake Mills Swim Lessons on Rock Lake
Swim lessons at Sandy Beach are available through the Lake Mills Area School District Summer School program. Parents sign up for swim lessons via online summer school registration and must provide transportation.

Sandy Beach Park -Sandy Beach is an excellent beach for swimming, picnicking, boating, grilling, playing volleyball, and gathering for celebrations. Beach passes are required or there is an admission fee (cash only). There are several shelters available to rent, two large beach and swimming areas, restrooms, sand volleyball courts, a playground, grilling and picnic areas, and a single lane boat ramp. Swimming is permitted within the buoy lines. Children must be supervised (no lifeguard on duty). Glass containers and pets are not allowed in the park. Sandy Beach Park is located on Sandy Beach Road in the City of Lake Mills.
Bartel’s Beach – A great free beach for swimming, picnicking, and grilling. Bartel’s Beach offers a new playground, picnic tables, grills, shade trees, and restrooms. It’s open 4am-10:30pm Sunday-Thursday, and 4am-12pm Friday and Saturday. There is no lifeguard on duty. Glass containers are not permitted. Pets are not allowed in the park. Bartel’s Beach is located on South Ferry Drive in the City of Lake Mills.
